Has your plastics granulator got an
'open heart'?
The idea of a plastics granulator having an 'open heart' is simply that the 'heart' of the machine can be readily accessed for maintenance, cleaning and inspection during production changeovers.
Rapid Granulator originally launched its ergonomic 'open-hearted' concept to its plastics materials granulating machines in 2006 The idea is to provide swift, direct and complete access to the heart of the machine, rotor and cutter house during production changes

Technique simplifies production leak testing
Leak test technique simplifies and increases production leak test repeatability and selects the ideal fill and stabilization times based on the volume and temperature of the product.
Robots offer casting fettling flexibility
Tricept robots provide improved parts quality, higher productivity and better working conditions in foundries for cleaning and pre-machining automotive aluminium castings.
This radically simplifies the inspection, cleaning and maintenance process, which can account for up to 80% of a granulator's running costs, said Rapid Granulator.
With just a couple of steps, and without the use of tools, the cutter house can be completely opened, facilitating clear visual access to the core machine parts.
This allows 'visibly clean' inspection and approval of the machine before it resumes operation.

Six-axis robots to speed up moulding systems
Robots will become increasingly familiar in injection moulding processes as cycle times are reduced and post-moulding processes need to be performed more efficiently then ever before.
Injection moulder has clamping force of 4000kN
The largest injection moulder yet built by Arburg - with a clamping force of 4000kN will make its first international appearance at the Fakuma 2002 plastics exhibition, Germany October 15-19, 2002.
The result is the prevention of potential contamination when changing colours and materials.
Rapid Granulator AB will be showing its new 600 Series of 'open-hearted' granulators at K 2007 in Hall 9 on stand E19.
There are three models of Rapid 600 series, which can handle capacities of up to 2,500kg/h.
Rapid will also be displaying its full range of 'Open Hearted' granulators including the 300, 400, 500 series.
There will be two new additions to the 400 Series: the 400-60 HD (Heavy Duty) for tough applications; and the 400-120, the widest model ever in this series, dedicated to recycle extra wide injection moulded and thermoformed waste product.
The Rapid 'open-hearted' granulators are well-suited for high-volume central or beside-the-press granulation of injection-moulded, blow-moulded or extruded plastics waste or rejects for direct recycling.
They all use the Rapid cutting technique, comprising clean double-scissors cutting action and a constant cutting circle, to produce uniformly-sized granules with minimal dust content, even with the toughest materials.
Moreover, the machines' cutting action reduces the force needed to slice through the plastics waste, which results in reduced energy consumption.
