Radshape Sheet Metal presented the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Randal Brew, with a gift symbolising Birmingham's manufacturing heritage to mark their fortieth anniversary.

Radshape Sheet Metal has spent forty years manufacturing components for a range of luxury and motorsport cars and has dedicated its anniversary celebrations to supporting Birmingham's Lord Mayor's 'Made in Birmingham' campaign Radshape Sheet Metal presented Lord Mayor, Councillor Randal Brew with a gift which in the company's view, symbolises Birmingham's manufacturing heritage

Many of the industries which Birmingham is famous for - jewellery motorcycles, pens, guns, cars and steam - are represented using every skill which Radshape employs.

Traditional craftsmanship mixed with innovation and design is laser cut, formed, polished and bonded to produce the fortieth anniversary gift.

The company opened its factory for customer tours on June 12, 13 and 14 and on display were the Morgan Aero 8, the Marcos TSO and the Bentley Azure Convertible, all products which Radshape makes components for.

Rolls Royce, Bentley, Morgan, Marcos, Gibbs, LDV and Prodrive are customers of the company which is based in Aston, Birmingham.

Radshape has been manufacturing precision sheet metal parts since the company was established by three employees in 1967, using their redundancy money.

The niche manufacturer has a GBP3.5 million annual turnover and employs sixty people.

Radshape makes the chassis for the Morgan Aero 8, previously manufactured the Gibbs Aquada chassis and has just won an order to make the chassis and fuel tank for the new Marcos TSO.

For the last forty years Radshape has supplied many parts for Bentley notably the front grille on the Bentley Arnage and in 2002 produced the Brightware and over two hundred components for the Bentley State Limousine which was presented to Her Royal Highness the Queen.

Many of the major automotive manufacturing companies within a sixty five mile radius of Aston use Radshape components.

The ProDrive inspired Mazda RX-8PZ and the special edition Subaru Impreza RB320 use Radshape grilles.

LDV uses many Radshape brackets on the new Maxus.

In addition, Rolls Royce radiator grilles and bumper spares are handcrafted and polished by Radshape.

The company also works in the aerospace, rail, marine, land based military, food and pharmaceutical industries.

Radshape is a member of the Midlands Niche Vehicle Network - an association of around 25 specialist car and chassis manufacturers, many in the motorsport industry, which is sponsored by the regional development agency, Advantage West Midlands.

Radshape won the Accelerate innovation in manufacturing award in 2003 and uniquely employs the 'Kaizen' philosophy where management and workers are permanently switched on to thinking about how things can be done better.

Managing Director, Keith Chadwick said: "We are delighted to be able to present the Lord Mayor with our representation of what 'Made in Birmingham' means.

We provide components for some of the world's greatest names in the automotive industry and look forward to continuing to do so for another forty years".
