Small CCTV camera for hazardous areas
R Stahl claims to have manufactured the world's smallest explosion-proof camera with touch screen monitoring, suitable for hazardous areas.
Known as type 7040, the new product line is explosion protected in accordance to EN 50281-1 (IEC 61241) and comes with Ex-marking Ex II 2 D IP66 T80 deg C.
The units also meet the requirements of the new ATEX Directive.
In order to fulfil the demanding requirements of EN 50281-1, R Stahl is using the same enclosures, actuators and cable glands that are used in type 8040 units approved for Zone 1 use.
The main difference between the two lines is in the type of built-in components used.
For example, EN 50281-1 permits the use of non-explosion-protected components inside enclosures, so by using its new GO82 industrial contact blocks, the company has abandoned the need for flameproof gaps and their costly pressure testing.
For customers, this makes the type 7040 units a more cost-effective solution, but one that enjoys the same robust and reliable functionality as Zone 1 equipment.
