Isolators designed for intrinsically safe circuits
An innovative and future-leading series of modules for intrinsically safe circuits, an isolator series has two input channels; all standard analogue and digital signals are accommodated.
Intrinsic safety engineering enters fieldbus era
With the widespread acceptance of fieldbus, intrinsic safety engineering has to change direction to adapt to digitalisation, de-centralisation, and product standardisation.
The adapter type 8592 has spring-type clamp terminals which accept data or supply cables with currents up to 9A.
These cables can measure either up to 7.5 or 11mm in diameter.
Instead of internal clamps, the model 8593 features pluggable connectors on all three ends.
Even in Ex zone 1, miniCLIX-enabled field devices can be installed, maintained or exchanged in no time at all, simply by pulling, twisting and pulling.
It is no longer necessary to disconnect the device or obtain a special permit.
The innovative plug connectors, which were jointly developed by R Stahl and Cooper Crouse-Hinds, are suitable for isolating all non-intrinsically safe signals in hazardous areas.
They also allow for converting Ex d field devices into 'plug and play' versions.
miniCLIX plug connectors or sockets are available with twelve different encodings.
Basically, the system allows for a maximum data transfer rate of 100 MBit/s.
The Y adapters support a maximum transfer rate of 1.5MBit/s, which is sufficient for fieldbus applications.
They are specified according to II 2 G Ex de IIC T6/T5 and II 2 D IP66 T80 deg C / T95 deg C and can therefore be used in very sensitive zone 1 and 21 areas susceptible to gas and dust explosions.
