Radical new insert solutions, a new facemill range and an innovative two-in-one combined face and plunge mill among many new products to be shown at MACH 2004.

Metal cutting market leader Sandvik Coromant will showcase radical new insert solutions, a new facemill range and an innovative two-in-one combined face and plunge mill among many new products on Stand 4660 at MACH 2004 Visitors will be able to view everything from state-of-the-art drills and inserts to tool holding solutions and tool management programmes, with Sandvik Coromant specialists in aerospace, automotive, die and mould and small parts machining on hand to discuss specific production challenges with visitors

The stand at MACH 2004 also highlights Sandvik Coromant's commitment to supporting new capital equipment investments.

Coromant has a portfolio of products and services that focus on generating faster payback and greater productivity for customers by specifying the correct tooling package on a newly purchased machine tool.

Sandvik Coromant aims to help customers get it 'right from the start', and is ready to put its unique application expertise to work to extend the value of new or existing machining programmes.

Among the products being featured for the first time is a new, highly versatile CoroMill 210 milling cutter which offers both face milling and plunge milling capabilities achieved through the design of the cutter body, insert seats and the inserts themselves.

CoroMill 210 achieves high feed face milling with extremely high chip volumes removed at feed rates far above those possible with conventional face milling.

In favourable conditions, 3mm per tooth can be used and metal removal rates up to 1400cm3 minimum can be achieved.

Plunge milling with CoroMill 210 is the fastest way to mill away large volumes of metal in the axial direction.

In fact, for operations with long tool overhangs and unstable conditions, plunge milling with CoroMill 210 could be the only solution.

This is a highly productive method for internal milling of deep cavities and milling externally along deep shoulders.

The new CoroMill 300 end mill offers a highly productive combination of high speed roughing, rest milling and semi-finishing.

The programme covers endmills with diameters 10-42 mm, either with cylindrical shanks or threaded couplings, to suit solid or vibration damped holders.

This has now been extended with larger facemills having diameters up to 80mm.

CoroMill 300 is suitable for applications requiring extended set ups and capable of performing plunge milling operations.

Finally, among the new products being featured for the first time is the CoroTurn XS programme of extra small turning tools which cover holes down to 1mm diameter.

CoroTurn XS tooling solutions for internal turning, grooving and threading bring the proven performance characteristics of CoroTurn down to smaller bores, a design conceived with small part machining.

The programme comprises four sizes, CXS-04, -05, -06 and -07, each including inserts for a range of hole diameters and available in different lengths to suit different applications.

These inserts fit into boring bars designed with internal cutting fluid supply, directed at the cutting edge via two nozzles to ensure chip optimised evacuation and cooling.

Boring bars range from 10 to 25.4mm diameter.

CoroTurn XS is designed for high precision small part machining in sliding head-stock CNC machines within the automotive, watch, connector and medical industry.
