With the introduction of its GC4225 grade Sandvik Coromant is addressing the requirement to achieve best results in the diverse ISO P25 area with a single insert grade.
This has always been a challenge but with GC4225, Coromant has developed an improved, versatile grade capable of adapting to variations in work piece material and operational demands towards the tougher end of applications.
The grade provides a new potential for increasing productivity through higher cutting data, backed by improved reliability, durability and predictability.
CoroDrill 880 features a completely new 'Step TechnologyR' technique to create outstanding cutting force balance while producing significant improvements in productivity and hole quality.
Now, with the introduction of drills in diameters down to 16.5mm, close tolerance drilling at higher feed rates and closer tolerances is now available for an increased range of drilling operations.
The long term drilling solution has helped double output and improve hole-making productivity for many Sandvik Coromant customers.
Industry sectors: * Aerospace - titanium is becoming more important as a material in the aerospace manufacturing process.
Utilising the latest tooling technology and application know-how, Sandvik Coromant will illustrate how to cope with a wide range of machining techniques.
Products highlighted will be new CoroCut engineered inserts for grooving, Xcel for semi-rough turning into shoulders, the Jetbreak High Pressure Coolant System and the insert grade GC110 dedicated to producing the highrst quality finish.
* Automotive - in this sector, Coromant will highlight applications and tooling solutions for improved total production economy in machining cam and crankshafts, engine blocks and heads, transmission parts and other automotive components.
CB7015 - the cubic boron nitride grade for highly productive finishing when turning hard parts will be featured.
A mix of engineered and standard tool solutions will be spot lighted covering the machining of aluminium and cast iron castings, bi-metal machining, cylinder boring and turning case hardened transmission components.
* Small Part Machining - in line with the growing demand for small precision-turned components Sandvik Coromant has developed tools to increase machine performance.
The latest are cutting tools for machining holes down to 0.3mm.
CoroTurn XS and the Delta C-drill are focusing on precision machined, tiny components while internal high precision grooves in holes down to 10mm diameter are now possible by the new CoroCut MB (minibar).
* Mechanical Engineering - at the cornerstone of Sandvik Coromant's ongoing success is its investment in research and development with a committed programme of new product introductions and a strong customer focus.
In a typical year, Sandvik Coromant commits an annual research and development budget equivalent to 6% of its global sales.
Therefore, the 25,000 products in the Coromant range will be supplemented by over 2000 new additions in 2006.
In addition to the specialist sectors highlighted earlier, wider mechanical engineering sectors are major beneficiaries with productivity always a major focus.
