The company has extended the range of its perfectly balanced, CoroDrill 880 indexable insert drill from 01, the smallest size, to 09, i e, for 12.00 - 13.99mm diameter to 53.00 - 63.00mm diameter holes.
Sandvik Coromant told manufacturingtalk.com that in comparative tests, CoroDrill 880 (CD880) delivered a 60% increase in productivity when compared with a solid carbide drill.
CD880 offers high productivity drilling and high penetration rate at a low machining cost per hole.
It provides high machining security through its novel cutting action and effective chip evacuation.
Sandvik Coromant recommends grade GC4034 for maximum productivity in tough applications for smaller drill diameters, giving a secure, reliable and consistent tool life.
The CD880-drill delivers higher productivity, higher reliability and an ability to drill better quality holes.
It uses a new cutting action, advanced chip evacuation and indexable insert technology to accomplish this.
The increased application area of CD880 will ensure excellent hole-making results irrespective of material or application.
Since Sandvik Coromant introduced CD880 a few years ago, its proven performance has advanced short-hole drilling to a new level in hole making; it is the number one choice for short-hole drilling - in a class of its own - said the company.
