Sandvik increases steel rough turning
rates
Latest metal turning insert grade by Sandvik Coromant offers high metal removal and increased cutting data in medium to roughing operations in stable conditions.
Sandvik Coromant said that its GC4205 offers maximum advantage in applications where harder steels, dry cutting conditions or high cutting data generate high temperatures GC4205 meets the demands needed for high metal removal and increased cutting data in medium to rough turning operations in stable conditions

Cutting tool catalogue includes free methods CDs
A comprehensive catalogue of tools and methods for the die and mould making industry includes two free CDs - one containing a metal cutting data module to optimise cutting data.
The new substrate provides improved edge line security whilst the new coating gives better crater wear and plastic deformation resistance, said Sandvik.
In extensive comparative tests, GC4205 produced 30% more parts than a competitor grade.
The GC4205 inserts are designed to be used in the P01-P10 area where machining conditions are stable.
Its high temperature performance compliments and exceeds GC4215 in the P10 area.
Sandvik Coromant told manufacturingtalk that the GC4205 excels where hardness is high (HB>270), when cutting speed exceeds 250m/min or in applications where there are long cutting times.
As a result of increased cutting speed, metal removal rate also increases to achieve improved productivity, said Sandvik.
GC4205 completes Sandvik Coromant's family of high performance steel turning grades that currently contains GC4215, GC4225 and GC4235.
They provide secure production in a range of conditions from long, continuous cuts in stable conditions through to intermittent cuts in extreme, difficult conditions.
