Modular, CNC multi-spindle automatic lathe has two rear- side machining stations and can be equipped with a pallet system that can be integrated into a production line.

At this year's EMO in Hanover, Alfred H Schuette will be showing variations from its modular SCX CNC multi-spindle automatic lathes The SCX range was first presented at the AMB exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany, in 2006

After a very good response, Schuette further developed and introduced the machine to the market.

At EMO 2007, Schuette will show, for the first time, the SC9-26.

It the latest modular machine version in the SCX range and has two fully operational rear-side machining stations.

The SC9-26 is equipped with an integrated pallet system enabling finished components to be extracted and transported from the machine damage-free.

This design enables the machine to be integrated into a production line.

An advantage of the SC9-26 is the ability to pick off the finished component, whilst the sub spindles are in operation, hence there is no need to consider the pick-off operation when calculating cycle times.

All the machine guides, drives, cables and hoses are mounted outside the machining area, which enables maximum freedom when retooling the machine and provides unrestricted chip removal.

Schuette said that the SCX machine concept has a distinct advantage over other multi-spindle automatic lathes on the market.

* Interchangeable tooling heads - as the tooling heads and attachments are interchangeable, the user has the flexibility to mount the tooling in any position required, longitudinal or cross.

This concept provides many new machining possibilities, for example, milling operations using a Y-axis in endworking or cross stations whether it is on the front or the rear side of the component.

The SC7-26, another machine of the SCX generation, will also be presented at the EMO.

This machine is fitted with the standard six spindles plus a seventh spindle for rear-side machining operations.

The SC7-26 will be shown on the stand of Pietro Cucchi , Italy, and is equipped with a PB32 side loader, enabling the machine to use bar material up to a maximum diameter of 27mm.

* Cam-driven multi-spindle automatic - Schuette will also show a cam-driven multi-spindle lathe.

The AG20 is a small, compact, fast, eight-spindle, cam-operated machine.

With this machine Schuette will demonstrate a production method of two components per cycle in an extremely short cycle time.
