Sciemetric Instruments, working in partnership with the Ford Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development centre (AMTD), has been awarded a Ford Manufacturing Engineering Excellence award for the Crankshaft Oil Hole Verification In-Process Test (IPT).

Broken tooling or incomplete machining may result in crankshafts with partially or fully blocked oil holes.

This can result in a catastrophic engine failure.

If an engine with these defects is passed through to the end customer it can have serious consequences.

At a minimum it will result in a significant warranty claim.
