Cleanliness of washed glass surface samples is gauged by measuring the contact angle formed on the glass surface by a sample of pure water injected upon it.
Degreasing system distributor appointed for UK
Standard Industrial Systems is pleased to announce its appointment as the UK's exclusive distributor for the Multimatic range of degreasing systems.
Renishaw had previously considered a range of alternative cleaning technologies but rapidly concluded that a solvent format was the only way of achieving ongoing high levels of surface cleanliness required for the subsequent anodising of complex machined parts.
Once perchloroethylene had been established as the solvent of choice, the next step was to select a supplier who could offer a complete package.
Richard Jenner, senior development engineer commented, "We knew there were a number of potential suppliers of solvent cleaning systems in the UK, some of whom would have been able to meet our cleanliness specifications.
However, Renishaw is a very forward-looking organisation and had to establish beyond any doubt that the installation would be guaranteed to exceed all environmental and Health and Safety legislation for the long term." Clearly, a very large question remains concerning absolute compliance with 'double-lidded' or 'multiple door' solvent cleaning systems.
The only way to achieve a long-term guarantee of compliance was hermetically sealed technology utilising vacuum drying.
The introduction of EN12921 requires that chamber concentrations are limited to 1g/m3 prior to door release.
Jenner continues: "We were aware that German technology was the most advanced, having been working to such stringent environmental legislation since 1990.
Multimatic and Standard Industrial Systems were able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of our cleaning requirements and, based upon the experience gained since 1990, can offer the technology guaranteed to meet all our of our environmental and Health and Safety concerns." Standard Industrial Systems is an independent distributor offering solvent degreasing technology for chlorinated solvents, hydrocarbons and DOWCLENE.
A full range of ultrasonic and aqueous technologies is also available.
