A leading plastics manufacturing equipment supplier - including plastics injection moulding machines - has reported a profitable 2007 in the UK, and 2008 looks promising.

Leading plastics manufacturing equipment supplier, Sandretto UK, reports a profitable 2007 just gone and forecasts a very bright future ahead for the company "We are set to launch a very attractive package of plant utilization and optimization for our customers early next year

We believe that this offers UK moulders a revolution in equipment supply and service," said Chris Whitlam, National Sales manager.

"So much so that we have committed to roll out the programme through all the available 2008 exhibitions and marketing opportunities - in Dublin in February, in Telford at PDM 08 and then in the autumn at Interplas 08".

With a 35% increase in sales of ancillary equipment sold through Sandretto UK over 2007 a significant number of moulders are voting with their chequebooks for the convenience and value in the bundled package.

Next year will see the addition of Sandretto's E1 machine control and diagnostics system to the package.

Together with further hardware, software and service innovations in plant design machine utilisation - and also cost savings in energy and utilities - Sandretto UK will reinforcing its claims as best supplier of service and production know-how in the UK.

Whitlam notes that Sandretto UK sales for 2007 have been: "Very healthy - all across the board.

We are skilled at what we do and more than holding our market share.

Our overall volume is hitting levels of three years ago and we are confident of building further gains in the market next year".

* Injection moulding - over the past thirty years Sandretto UK has sold some 3,500 injection moulding machines into the UK and Irish markets, putting the company among the leaders in the UK market.

This demanding but loyal UK customer base will form a major part of the platform for the next phase in the company's development and market-leading customer service.

According to Whitlam, 2008 will be the year to upgrade to Sandretto products that will pay the user back within a very short space of time.

"We have always considered ourselves first in service and in customer care," said Whitlam, "That being the key reason why we differentiate ourselves by offering a 'one-stop-shop' for all plastics production needs - automation and ancillary equipment included".

* Chess Plastics - leading example from the Sandretto UK customer base is Chess Plastics.

The company was incorporated in 1967 in Tring, Hertfordshire, UK by Malcolm and Marilyn Olden.

Originally a small specialist injection moulding company, investments in technology, marketing and factory space have enabled steady growth and diversification.

Today, Chess Plastics is still a family run concern with Glyn and Gareth Olden as the controlling Directors and incorporating an organised work force operating from 35,000ft2 in Droitwich, Worcestershire.

The company works a three shift system, 24h/day Chess recently took delivery of a new 12MN (1200 tonf) Sandretto machine with Dal Maschio CNC robot in order to meet its expected growth plan.

Chess received its new Sandretto machine just in time to keep up with an increase in orders for larger components.

Gareth Olden, finance director at Chess, believed that the larger machines are the key to ongoing success in UK manufacturing as larger components can not be transported economically from overseas for the domestic market.

Whitlam told manufacturingtalk.com that he believed it too.

Sandretto UK has taken the opportunity to arrange regular sourcing of Sandretto large machines to the UK so that customer lead times can always be achieved.

Meanwhile Antrim, Northern Ireland-based Industrial Precision Components have recently been in the market for Sandretto's High Performance range of fast cycling machines in order to meet a growing order book for all manner of aircraft seat components.

Thanks to the new Sandretto HP performance the company's fleet of moulding machines is now producing components for the international sector at greatly improved cycle times than before.
