Automated die handling increases safety
Safety in metal stamping plants has come a long way in the last 30 years, and Serapid has been a leader in automating die handling to increase safety for employees.
Safety in metal stamping plants has come a long way in the last 30 years, and Serapid has been a leader in automating die handling to increase safety for employees.
A Quick Die Change System from Serapid eliminates the need for operators to change heavy dies manually.
Interlocking and interacting safety mechanisms are included in every system, preventing the need for people to enter or reach into dangerous press areas.
"Our custom quick die change systems are designed with the safety of the employees as our number one priority," said Thomas Tinetti, Quick Die Change (QDX) Sales Manager at Serapid.
"In addition to increasing safety, a QDX system will also increase efficiency and ergonomics for users." Die exchange equipment and automation move the heavy loads of incoming and outgoing dies on predefined tracks, instead of employees doing the work manually.
Operators control the process from remote-control panels.
Depending on the automation level realised, manual actions will be reduced to a minimum, or totally eliminated.
QDX will also speed up die changes significantly.
A die change that used to take an hour or more can be reduced to five to ten minutes! Positions and settings can be reproduced accurately and on the spot.
In addition to reducing downtime, a QDX system handles equipment smoothly and gently, protecting it from damage and wear.
Each Serapid QDX system is designed according to the specifications and needs of the customer.
We provide die-moving and positioning equipment, from press-mounted loading systems to rail guided die carriers.
Die positioning is done using a patented rigid-chain actuator, a technology Serapid has refined and implemented for over 30 years.
