Pallet de-stacking system reduces manual
work

Pallet de-stacking system for the management of pallets has the aim of managing the storage and stacking of pallets, and removing manual work, such as dragging pallets here and there.

Pallet de-stacking across the range of industrial environments in Europe is set to become a whole lot quicker, simpler and safer thanks to the latest marketing move by the shrink packaging division of Sealed Air, the leading global manufacturer of a wide range of protective and packaging products Sealed Air has a longstanding relationship with Mondo and Scaglione, the Italian machinery specialists, and already has brought lasting benefits to a large number of European businesses involved in palletising and packaging

Now, factories, warehouses and industrial yards are set to reap the rewards of another piece of Italian craftsmanship and know-how, a pallet de-stacking system, which is totally new to the market.

This pioneering system for the management of pallets is believed to be the first of its kind to be widely available with the aim of managing the storage and stacking of pallets, and taking much of the manual work - dragging pallets here and there - out of the equation.

Normally pallets are stacked one on top of the other - in some environments they are seen merely scattered around, which is not only just aesthetically unpleasant but can also be extremely dangerous.

The new system is set to eliminate all of this.

It is based on standard pallet magazine modules - the same magazine can handle two different pallet sizes though not at the same time - and operates by loading, via a fork-lift truck, up to 15 pallets at a time.

Then, when one is required, a request is made through a control panel and the stacker deposits the pallet on the floor, directly beneath the stack.

It then uses motorised wheels to push it left or right out of the magazine ready for use.

Gone is the somewhat unsafe practice of pulling the top pallet from a stack.

The new system provides a number of major advantages, not least of which are the elimination of the dangers of manual handling and the general, tidier look which is given to the workplace.

Couple the fact that the pallet management system can be located at any convenient point, or beside production lines, to the availability of a modular family of systems to suit most requirements and it is easy to see why Sealed Air is setting great store by this latest addition to its portfolio.

Helios Ruiz, marketing director (Europe) for the company's Shrink Packaging Division (SPD) says: ''We believe the new Mondo and Scaglione pallet system offers a number of advantages over the competition with safety and cost-effectiveness - both paramount in today's industrial climate - at the top of the list.

We expect a great deal of interest from both new customers and those who already know the benefits of machinery from our Italian friends.'' The pallet management system is available alongside the other products from Sealed Air's SPD which include consumables as well as packaging systems from manual and semi-automatic L-sealers to fully automatic ones along with automated horizontal and form fill sealers and side sealers.

Easy open package solutions are also available including the top-selling trio, Shrinktap, Peelwrap and Sealstrip.
