Case packing lines increase production by 40%
Eight case packing lines have increased production by up to 40% and reduced operating staff by 25% at a wallpaper factory and the payback period may be as little as two years.
Wrapping machine can be changed in three minutes
Wrapping machine wrapper redefines traditional shrink packaging equipment having features like its plug-and-play in-feed modules, which can be changed over in as little as three minutes.
The machines are operating at the end of four separate lines and are being used to pack rolls of wallpaper in various batches in to cardboard boxes.
Prior to the installation, the rolls were manually packed at operating speeds of four boxes per minute.
The machines can handle 27 rolls per minute and are capable of processing up to seven boxes per minute - a production increase of up to 40 per cent.

Taped resaleable packages are easier than zips
An innovative and revolutionary new form of resealable packaging has a built-in recloseable feature using pressure sensitive tape to create an easy-open, easy-close package.
The number of operating staff has been reduced by 25 per cent and Graham and Brown anticipates the payback period on the equipment to be as little as two years, said Sealed Air.
Head of engineering at Graham and Brown in Blackburn, Tony Conroy, explained what problems the company were facing and why it invested in the Mondo equipment.
He said: "The UK wallcoverings industry is highly competitive and we recognised that if we wanted to remain competitive and move the business forward we needed to increase production and improve quality by investing in new technology and equipment." He continued: "I considered eight additional quotes from competing companies but I'd worked with Gary Wilson, the sales manager of Sealed Air, previously so I felt confident in the design and quality of build in the machines his company had to offer." Conroy spoke of how Sealed Air overcame one installation problem: "The factory floor space is very large but I anticipated the low ceiling would create a problem and that I'd struggle to find a supplier with the expertise to implement the installation.
It required a huge amount of planning and consideration but I was impressed with Sealed Air's plans and after months of preparation, all eight lines have been successfully installed." And when asked about the benefits the equipment has brought to the company so far, he added: "The case packers have automated the wallpaper line, which has seen production increase and we have reduced the number of staff on the factory floor.
Not only are we producing more cases per hour but the quality of the boxes is consistently high, which has also been recognised by our customers." He explained that the Sealed Air team and the Mondo and Scagilone people gave 100 per cent on the project.
Like all machines, Graham and Brown experienced some minor teething problems but Sealed Air always responded quickly and resolved any issues.
"All in all I couldn't have asked for a better service or quality of machine," Conroy concluded.
Graham and Brown employs about 400 staff in Blackburn and it manufactures a number of highly recognised wallcoverings for brands that include Super Fresco, Easy Decor, Hemingway and Texture, amongst others. Request a free brochure from Sealed Air ...
