Sealed Air has re-opened Packforum, following an investment programme to upgrade its European packaging facilities.

Sealed Air has re-opened Packforum, following an investment programme to upgrade its European packaging facilities The announcement by the shrink packaging unit of Sealed Air, follows a complete refit of the company's permanent customer centre hall and offices, which are on the edge of Paris, within 10 minutes of the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport and Villepinte exhibition centre

Sealed Air claimed that Packforum is still a unique concept in the packaging industry - it covers 2,300 square metres and is home to consumer and supermarket displays.

Visitors can see and experiment on up to 15 packaging lines and examine different Cryovac packaging systems.

The company said that the aim is to provide a relaxed, convivial atmosphere where supermarket buyers, product manufacturers and contract packagers can meet to discuss and agree their packaging requirements.

A range of film and machine options are provided by Sealed Air, including the Shanklin Omni machine, which is said to be suitable for glossy packaging of DVDs, software, unusually shaped items - such as DIY goods - confectionary and also chocolate boxes.

Sealed Air commented that presentation is at the core of Packforum and is prominent in its shrink packaging unit, which specialises in packaging equipment and new films, such as the claimed very high resistance Cortuff shrink film.

At Packforum, shrink packaging technicians have innovation, new technology and new ideas at their finger tips and will develop, where necessary, a bespoke system for a customer's specific requirements, said Sealed Air.

Customers are encouraged to bring their products to see which machine and packaging film best suits their requirements without rushing in to a decision.

The company added that it believes that a key part of the facility is the opportunity to discuss and explore different avenues with other colleagues and SP technicians.

Regular visitors to the facilities include supermarket buyers from Europe and other international regions, along with European producers.

In addition to testing the packaging capabilities of the different packaging machines on display, visitors can also participate in regular workshops and seminars.

Many of those are aimed at specific market sectors, such as contract packaging, DIY, media and they are presented by seminar specialists from the different sections of the packaging industry.

Sealed Air's shrink packaging marketing director for Europe, Helios Ruiz, said: "Packforum is a permanent customer centre facility where industry professionals can meet to discuss the latest ideas in the packaging industry. Request free introductory details about products from Sealed Air ...

It is important that its design reflects this concept and that it will always feel as new, fresh and innovative as the ideas developed here.".
