Wrapping machine can be changed in three minutes
Wrapping machine wrapper redefines traditional shrink packaging equipment having features like its plug-and-play in-feed modules, which can be changed over in as little as three minutes.
The Highest Achievement Award is granted to one Gold Award winner in the "packaging excellence" category that has contributed the most to the advancement of the industry.
The award-winning OS Films package merited the honor due to its unique ability to effectively remove residual oxygen and increase shelf life, without altering the food product's appearance or taste.
"Cryovac's OS Films lidding for Nestle met and exceeded all of the Flexible Packaging Association's ideals of an award-winning package," said Marla Donahue, president of the Flexible Packaging Association.

Taped resaleable packages are easier than zips
An innovative and revolutionary new form of resealable packaging has a built-in recloseable feature using pressure sensitive tape to create an easy-open, easy-close package.
"The winning Cryovac package featured excellence in both form and function, and greatly contributed to this breakthrough year for the flexible packaging industry." Cryovac worked closely with Nestle to achieve the goals Nestle had for a new lidding material for its Buitoni pasta.
"Cryovac was challenged with designing a lidding material that maintains the Buitoni pasta brand image and existing look of the package, but also extends the product's shelf life," said Tom Kennedy, manager of new business development for Cryovac.
"We are honored that the Flexible Packaging Association is recognizing the innovation behind this unique, oxygen scavenging package." The Cryovac OS Films lidding material used by Nestle removes residual oxygen from the modified atmosphere package and achieves oxygen levels in the package of less than one-tenth of one percent.
By reducing the levels of oxygen present, the active scavenging process increases the shelf life of the Buitoni refrigerated pasta by 50 percent.
Through a patented process, the oxygen scavenger is activated on demand and independent of the product in the package by an ultraviolet light triggering process delivered by the Cryovac Model 4100 system.
OS Films contain a proprietary polymer component that is included as a layer of the lidding material.
Since the scavenger is part of the film, it is invisible to the naked eye and does not alter the clear view of the fresh pasta product inside.
Cryovac OS Films can be surface printed or trap printed, depending on the application.
The added shelf life achieved through the oxygen scavenging system gives retailers more sales time between receiving the product and its expiration date, thus reducing spoilage related expenses.
It also allows the manufacturer to place the fresh pasta product in retail channels where sales velocity is slower or more variable. Request free introductory details about products from Sealed Air ...
