Rapidfill makes the lightest void-fill bags

A Sealed Air product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jun 9, 2009

Sealed Air has brought out the Rapidfill, a faster, lighter and more effective automated inflation system.

The Rapidfill system generates some of the lightest void-fill bags available on the market, allowing users to make significant savings on shipping and handling costs.

The Rapidfill system inflates a void-fill bag within an enclosed case, offering maximum protection by minimising movement of the package's contents.

Rapidfill air-bags are available in six different sizes, ranging from 380 x 280mm to 890 x 635mm.

They have a one-way valve that allows air in but not out.

The system uses sensory technology to measure the exact amount of air needed to fill the void in the carton.

It requires a single operator to clip the Rapidfill bag to the inside corner of the carton, fold the carton flaps and send it through the case sealer.

The carton briefly stops while travelling through the sealer, where air is automatically injected through the carton and into the air bag.

Andy Robinson, European product manager for Sealed Air, said: 'The Rapidfill system processes lighter packages at a higher frequency of up to 10 per minute.

'Operators will also find the system easier and faster to use than alternative void-fill methods, as it uses the least amount of material possible to achieve effective void-fill and consumers can reuse the bags by deflating them.
