Mould electrodes machined in multiples
Multi-part machining software module provides a 20% improvement productivity gain when using a pallet systems to machine six electrodes together on one pallet for complex injection moulding tools.

At the USA's IMTS, Sescoi will launch its WorkPLAN Enterprise ERP system for project based companies, and WorkXPlore 3D for viewing, mark-up and analysis of 3D models.

The individual electrodes are each programmed in WorkNC before they are grouped in projects of up to six electrodes on each System3R pallet.

Toolmaker invests in Sescoi job management
Czech toolmaker evaluated several job management systems before selecting MyWorkPLAN from Sescoi, to exchange data and interface with external software packages such as CAD and Microsoft Office.
Once MPM is initialised, WorkNC checks the project and automatically allocates and uses each tool across all the electrodes.
Similarly, it optimises the toolpath across the whole pallet and finally postprocesses the integrated toolpath.
The result is considerably fewer tool changes, shorter and faster toolpaths and increased accuracy.
Importantly for Markus Bay, the new module allows reliable unmanned machining.
"The investment in MPM paid for itself very quickly, we have been able to increase the productivity of electrode milling by 20%." Safety is a great consideration in MPM with automatic safe rapid heights and graphical verification helping to ensure a dependable cutterpath.
The positive results which he has achieved in electrode manufacture have encouraged Bay to invest in a new high speed machining centre.
He sees an opportunity for further major productivity improvements by introducing similar multiple set-ups of steel mould inserts.
A combination of the MPM module and the machines tool breakage detection systems will make this plan easily achievable.
