CAM software has automatic roughing
routines
New automatic roughing routines in Version 18 of WorkNC software are aimed at reliably raising metal removal rates and tackling the hard to machine materials employed in the aerospace industry.
Sescoi will be bringing the latest version of its WorkNC CAM/CAD software and its new job management software MyWorkPLAN to the Airtec show, a specialised trade fair covering the entire aerospace supply chain which is scheduled to be held in Frankfurt from 17th to 20th October WorkNC is used widely in the aerospace sector to provide the productivity and quality demanded by this industry

Mould maker has no crashes with WorkNC CAM
Mould and die maker said it does not have to worry about a crash with WorkNC CAM as it is very reliable and its performance is superior to other CAM systems it has used.
Toolmaker invests in Sescoi job management
Czech toolmaker evaluated several job management systems before selecting MyWorkPLAN from Sescoi, to exchange data and interface with external software packages such as CAD and Microsoft Office.
Adaptive Trochoidal Roughing routinely adds trochoidal tool movements whenever full tool engagement is detected, ensuring a constant tool load.
Finally, Spiral Core Roughing produces a smooth continuous spiral toolpath with the minimum of direction changes and retract movements.
All these toolpaths benefit from WorkNC's new dynamic stock management which automatically updates the stock material after each operation, ensuring that the software knows the exact location of excess material and so eliminating air cutting and avoiding shock loads to the tool.
WorkNC is also geared to cut the complex shapes found in the industry.
Sescoi will be exhibiting its unique Auto 5 software, which automatically changes 3-axis toolpaths into 5-axis toolpaths wherever appropriate.
The advantages for the user are the ability to cut more of the part in one setting, the use of shorter and more rigid cutters, easier programming and improved surface finish and accuracy.
In addition specialist 5-axis toolpaths are included in WorkNC for blade machining, impeller machining and tube machining, tasks which are highly relevant to aerospace applications.
MyWorkPLAN, Sescoi's newly launched job management software, will also be beneficial for SMB aerospace contractors.
The system provides an easy to implement method of controlling project based custom manufacture without the complexity and extensive configuration normally associated with job management systems.
Modules within the software control quotations, time and resource management and job tracking.
Links to commonly used CAD packages and office systems such as Microsoft Office, enable management teams to get an up to date picture of production and costs, as well as helping them to produce accurate quotations and give realistic delivery dates.
In the highly competitive environment of the aerospace industry, tight control of cost and delivery lead times will help contractors to win more business, maximise profitability, and provide a better service to their customers.
