CAD/CAM interface speeds geometric selection

G3 interface for CAD/CAM software WorkNC, allows geometric elements, positions and toolpaths can all be selected directly from the screen, allowing the user to gather information far more quickly.

Sescoi will be previewing the new G3 interface for its flagship CAD/CAM software WorkNC, and demonstrating MyWorkPLAN, its job management software for SMEs, at this year's Euromold show in Frankfurt from 29th November to 2nd December on Stand F22 in Hall 8.

Visitors will be able to see G3, WorkNC's third generation software interface, which features a large graphics area bordered by a tree structure and contemporarily styled icons and toolbars.

It can be customised to suit the user's preferences.

Within G3, which is due for release in early 2007, all the previous environments have been integrated into one, allowing extensive interactive picking.

Geometric elements, positions and toolpaths can all be selected directly from the screen, allowing the user to gather information far more quickly and accurately for subsequent tasks or operations.

WorkNC's powerful toolpath editing benefits particularly from this capability, through graphical modification of both individual and groups of cutterpaths.

In addition to the new interface, G3 has several new toolpaths including intelligent lead-ins on Z-Level Finishing which will avoid marking the part, while increasingly fluid cutter movement will reduce machining times and improve surface quality.

Furthermore, High Torque Re-Roughing now features automatic machining of flat areas.

Collision detection and avoidance has also been the subject of enhancement in G3.

Collided toolpaths are automatically encircled with a curve, allowing safe machining paths to be added to each individual area.

Additionally, a proximity warning alerts the user if the tool or holder moves within a user specified envelope, giving advance warning of potentially hazardous machine movements.

Live machining on a DEPO DYNAMIC 1008-1005 machining centre will enable delegates to see WorkNC in action at EuroMOLD.

For small and medium sized enterprises, Sescoi will be explaining how MyWorkPLAN can have a big impact on the efficiency of job management.

The software, which is easy to install and use, provides tools to control production from quotation through to delivery.

Accurate pricing and cost control, possible with MyWorkPLAN, will allow managers to monitor production status and profitability during the manufacturing cycle, highlighting anomalies as they occur.
