Lower cost locking nut performs equally
well
In an independent comparison made to compare vibration performance between the leading UK locking nuts, the Staytite product was shown to perform equally well at lower cost.
Independent tests have proven that the Staytite locking nut performs as well as contemporary brands, at a lower cost and with no sacrifice on quality That is why Staytite is selling its locking nuts to Triumph Motorcycles, Ford Motor Company and Mitsubishi Motor Company

* Independent comparison - the Staytite all metal self-locking nut has been available in the UK for 30 years.
Recently the company, Staytite, commissioned work by the UK's foremost industry test house, Bolt Science of Chorley, Lancashire, to compare vibration performance between the leading UK locking nuts.
The DIN 65151 Vibration test compared an M8 Staytite nut with a variety of different self-locking nuts including all-metal bent beam, deformed thread, and torque prevailing types.

Low cost and easier installation - Staytite's sales director, Michael Moore, said: "We believe we have the best product on the market and we find it easy to demonstrate the tangible benefits of lower cost and ease of use.
The difficulty is convincing conservative users and specifiers that our nut has the same self-locking properties as others, because it installs so effortlessly onto the bolt or stud.
It's psychological really, people think a nut needs to be difficult to install in order for it not to loosen.
We decided the best way to convince people would be to commission new independent tests because we knew this would bear out our claims." Moore continued: "This new evidence, in both video and graph form, helps us to convince even the most conservative engineer and designer of the need to take our claims seriously, because the Staytite Nut offers additional cost and quality benefits when compared to others".
* Manufacture - the nuts are cold-formed from Class 8 carbon steel, not mild steel as some self locking nuts are.
Furthermore the production process used by Staytite is lower-cost than conventional turned self-locking nuts and typical cost-savings of 15% are passed on to their customers.
In fact the A2 and A4 stainless steel grade nuts come with an even bigger saving of between 20% and 30% when compared to some other brands.
Dome and Flange versions are available.
* Novel self-locking principle - the design of the nut is very different to ordinary self-locking nuts.
The product consists of a steel body and a stainless steel spring insert.
As the nut is installed on the screw thread, the stainless steel spring inserts engage with the base of the screw thread and flex upward.
This results in a lower installation torque especially when compared with a deformed thread type of nut.
During use, the inserts flex downward and are pulled into closer contact with the screw threads by the anti-clockwise rotation of the nut body, thus resisting vibration and loosening.
The result is that the Staytite nut can be tightened up easily, allowing installation with nut-runners and power tools.
This is another benefit over some traditional nuts.
The stainless steel insert has the capability to revert to its original shape, making the Staytite Nut reusable.
