products

With product recalls due to the hazardous failures of lithium ion batteries, numerous companies and organisations are increasing their efforts to ensure safer products through standardised design.

With recent product recalls due to the hazardous failures of lithium ion batteries, numerous companies and organisations are increasing their efforts to ensure safer products through standardised design and qualification requirements The standards include: IEEE 1625 (Standard for Rechargeable Batteries for Portable Computing), and IEEE 1725 (Standard for Rechargeable Batteries for Cellular Telephones)

These standards specifically address the unique requirements pertaining to the manufacture and use of Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer batteries.

The standards examine safety through all levels of the systems, including the cell manufacturing process, battery charge control and electrical and mechanical construction.

SGS has been selected by the CTIA (The Wireless Association) as an IEEE 1725 reviewing organisation.

This is the result of SGS's demonstrated experience and expertise within the area of lithium ion batteries.

SGS provides a comprehensive solution to increase the reliability of battery powered products such as mobile phones, laptop computers, digital music players and portable DVD players etc.
