A SGS product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jan 23, 2007

SGS is a Notified Body under several European Directives appointed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Ofgem (UK Regulator) approved laboratory for Gas and Electricity Meters.

On 30 October MID 2004/22/EC came into force.

This means that measuring instruments must offer high-level metrological protection so that consumers can rely on the data they generate.

By applying the MID CE mark, producers can prove to their customers that both the design and manufacture of their equipment is of the highest quality.

The mark guarantees that the instruments are sufficiently sensitive for their intended use, durable, reliable and able to produce repeatable and reproducible data.

MID applies to all manufacturers that produce: Water Meters Gas Meters and Volume Conversion Devices Active Electrical Energy Meters Measuring Systems for the Continuous and Dynamic Measurement of Quantities of Liquids other than Water Automatic Weighing Instruments Taximeters Material Measures Dimensional Measuring Instruments Exhaust Gas Analysers These types of instrument have to go through conformity assessment procedures that are controlled and delivered by Notified Bodies.
