A flexible stamping system, which stamps, punches, forms and taps, an be used to manufacture a wide range of products from coiled material in various widths and up to 3mm thick.

Shear-Form Machine Tools, the Coventry based sheet metal and plate working machinery supplier, showed and demonstrated a Dimeco Alipresse 'Flexipress' flexible stamping system on their stand at Metalworking 2002 at the NEC, Birmingham Flexipress is a flexible, high productivity stamping, punching, forming and tapping system that can be used to manufacture a wide range of products from coiled material in various widths and up to 3mm thick material

Lighting and ceiling components, automotive, building, shelving, security, office furniture, white goods, air conditioning, electronics and electrical cabinets are all example product sectors suited to this process Flexipress, comprising a coil feed line, undercrank press and tooling designed to suit customer's product specifications and required output.

Up to 40 different tools have been used have been used for example to produce a pre-painted light reflector product.

Selection of each tool is controlled by the CNC from the Microfeeder system.

For each length of feed, the control chooses one or several selectors, which insert a wedge between the ram and the tools.

This enables Flexipress to manufacture parts either continuously or with variations to the product specification without changing tooling.

The CNC control stores all feed lengths and tool selections for an unlimited number of products.

Programmed stamping allows a number of different products to be produced from one coil without the need to change tooling.

Hole punching can be completed economically in many formats in panels, whilst stamping in stages allows successive and complex operations to be carried out.

Stamping by nibbling enables variable size openings to be produced at high rates Working independently or connected to a bending or rollforming machine, 'Flexipress' is able to produce punched formed finished products complete from coil.
