A flexible, high speed coil straightener/feeder has an NC system that eliminates the need for any feeding loop from the coil and so enables equipment length to be just 4m.

Shear-Form Machine Tools, the Coventry based sheet metal and plate working machinery supplier will be exhibiting new equipment on stand no 3445 at MACH 2004 in Birmingham, 19 - 23 April 2004

A brand new and exciting concept in flexible, high speed coil feeding from French company, Dimeco Alipresse will be on show.

The line is only 4m long, but comprises a Model 2381D 4,5 tonnes capacity uncoiler and a Model 1676D straightener/feeder with crocodile opening, height adjustable frame and a capacity to handle 500mm wide x 4.2mm thick material.

The control of the line is the key to the compactness of the line.

This achieved by synchronisation of the feeding parameters through Dimeco's 'Optimaster' numerical control, the key element being it eliminates the need for any feeding loop from the coil.

Also working on the stand will be two of Haegers press insertion systems.

The 824 WindowTouch press insertion system complete with their latest Quality Assurance InsertionLogicT software and Turret Insertion Systems (TIS), which allow insertion of multiple types and sizes of fastener in a single part handling.

The trolley mounted '412' manual, low cost fastener insertion system which is also suitable for bench mounting.

It is a fully hydraulic 36kN capacity press with a 300mm throat depth and a stroke infinitely adjustable from 0-152mm, operating at 106spm with insertion forces as low as1.1 kN, to offer both reliability and energy efficiency.

With Haeger's conductive and non conductive safety system, providing safety at any point in the ram stroke and requiring no set-up or adjustment by the operator at any time, the '412' has been introduced to provide a fastener insertion system with interchangeable tooling for small to medium size sheet metal fabricators, with the ability to be upgraded to a system with automatic feeding.

Other equipment on show includes a Multiflex Cornerformer which is used in panel fabrication for the forming of corners on electrical cabinet doors, computer casings, trays, lids, oven doors, furniture, suitcase covers, cladding, bottom pans for humidifiers as well as traffic and other signs.

It can form 4 closed corners of a single galvanised door in around 60 seconds after which no manual zinc coating in the corner area is required.

It can be used with mild steel and aluminium up to 3.00mm in thickness and stainless steel up to 2.00mm, being controlled by a Siemens PLC.

A McKechnie D-Bur-r 131-E de-burring machine from US metalworking equipment manufacture McKechnie International, Florida will be shown.

It can be used on most materials, but is ideal for stainless steel, a material that is extremely difficult to de-burr using other methods.

It makes this machine the answer to de-burring for stainless steel equipment manufacturers.

It removes the burrs and scallops from stainless steel, caused by a guillotine squaring shear or CNC punch press, regardless of whether the burr is on top or on bottom of the material.

It also smoothes the sheared edges of shaker parts at speeds up to 20m.per minute in one pass.

This machine deburrs the top edge, the face and the bottom edge of sheared sheets during the one pass.

MACH 2004 - April 19 - 23 - NEC Birmingham, UK.
