Corner former avoids welding and
finishing
Using fixed tooling, a corner forming machine forms corners at high production rates without using welding, so no surface finishing is required and over 500 panels can be produced in one shift.
The 'Variform' is the name of a new Cornerformer from Austrian based ACF Engineering and Automation and is now available through Shear-Form Machine Tools, the Coventry based sheet metal and plate working machinery supplier and ACF's sole representative in the UK Variform with its fixed tooling has been introduced to meet the demand for high volume production through fast cycle times to form corners on a multitude of panel fabrications including electrical cabinet doors, computer casings, trays, lids, oven doors, furniture, suitcase covers, cladding, bottom pans for humidifiers as well as traffic and other signs

Bending machines produce long components
Shear-Form Machine Tools is the sole UK representative for Swiss metalworking equipment manufacturer Jorns AG, who has introduced a new series of bending machines.
The advantage to the end user in using Variform to create corners is that no welding and no surface finishing is required.
It can produce corners at nearly 10 times faster than welding and grinding.
Over an 8 hour shift Variform can produce in excess of 500 panels as against around 180 with welding and grinding.
Variform can form 4 closed corners of a single galvanised door in around 40 seconds including handling time, after which no manual zinc coating in the corner area is required.
It can be used with mild steel and aluminium up to 4.0mm thick and stainless steel up to 1.2mm, being controlled by a Siemens PLC.
Variform which conforms to CE requirements stands 1.5m high and requires a space measuring 1.45m x 1.1m.
