Insertion press has tool changing system

The Haeger 824 OneTouch-3 insertion press shown by Shear-Form at MACH 2008 recently has a four-station automatic tool changing system that performs a 3s automatic tool change.

Shear-Form Machine Tools demonstrated the Haeger 824 OneTouch-3 insertion press with a number of new features for faster productive inserting at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition last week The 824 OneTouch-3 has a four-station automatic tool changing system with servo driven tool changer

It performs a 3s automatic tool change.

The press also has the following features.

* Four (MAS) Modular Autofeed Systems.

* The latest shuttle tooling platform for a 2 min tooling set-up for any fastener type.

* Overall tool clearance has been increased to 140mm.

* Ram speed has been doubled to give a 2s operation cycle.

The press also has a single platform for feeding and inserting nuts, studs, standoffs, custom fasteners.

A self-piercing rivet capability is now provided as standard on all Haeger insertion presses.

Other new features as standard include a high vacuum for tool clamping, upper vacuum tip system with positive locking, laser part locating light, whilst robot integration with off-line robotic programming is an option available as a turnkey solution.

* Software improvements - expanded software capabilities include InsertionLogic Version 9 with InsertionGraphics, networking capability between the OneTouch and a PC or network, off-line programming software allowing writing of programs on a PC without the need to stop the press.

There is also an improved fastener library.

InsertionGraphics provide the user with a visual guide throughout the insertion process.

Part images can be displayed on the computer touch screen with each fastener position on the part being shown as a flashing dot, thereby virtually eliminating a fastener being missed or being insertion in the wrong position.

As part of the equipment's quality control package, Haeger provides each press with a digital camera and interface, allowing the user to take images of parts and import them or images from other sources into a part program.
