Schmersal (UK), specialists in man-machine safety systems, has launched the BNS/AES non-contact guard monitoring system, a unique combination of safety devices that has been tested and approved by the European notified body BG as a complete system, ensuring that the components are compatible and suit the relevant guarding function Unlike conventional non-coded sensors that are operated by simple magnetic fields and are easily tampered with, the mechanical reed contacts of BNS sensors are operated by a coded and tamper-proof magnetic field with a special polarisation and field strength

No-contact guard monitoring system is tamper-proof
Non-contact guard monitoring system is a novel combination of safety devices that has been tested and approved by the European notified body BG as a complete, tamper-proof system.
The BNS sensor, which is controlled and monitored by the AES control module, also features two-pole reed elements with a normally open and normally closed circuit.
This minimises common mode causes of failure such as welding of the NC contact.
In addition according to EN 1088, the coded BNS/AES system does not require concealed mounting, which significantly simplifies the design and maintenance of guard monitoring installations.
BNS/AES safety systems are suitable for all control categories and conform to the new classification PDF-M (self-monitoring) per IEC 60947-5-3.
Typical applications include printing, packaging and food processing machinery or installations where high levels of dust or dirt are evident.
