'Collet jaw' chucks offer greater versatility
A 'collet jaw' chuck is more universal than either three-jaw chucks or collets and covers a greater diameter range than conventional collets thus increasing flexibility and cost effectiveness.
Zero-point clamping system reduces work resetting
Universal zero-point clamping system that provides accurate and repeatable set-ups of workholding fixtures allows workpieces to be moved through multiple operations with minimum resetting.
The new wedge bar large bore power lathe chuck can be changed within one minute with a jaw change repeatability of better than 0.02mm.
The easy quick-jaw-change system has fast set-up times on medium and small workpiece batch sizes significantly reducing set-up costs.
Due to the high accuracy and jaw repeatability, soft and turned jaw sets do not always have to be re-machined.

Magnetic clamping offered for machining jobs
A versatile magnetic clamping system is offered as work holding for rough or fine cutting applications in a variety of machining tasks on milling machines and machining centres.
Four-jaw combination chuck cuts cycle time by 40%
Switching to a four-jaw combination chuck has reduced cycle time in the manufacture of tubular goods for downhole applications by 40% and made set-up easier and safer.
The system is designed to unlock every jaw individually.
The large chuck bores from 43 to 104mm diameter with chuck diameters 165 and 315mm respectively.
This allows optimum use of the machine's spindle bore.
The protection sleeve that can be exchanged from the front makes the chuck more flexible.
Consequently individual adjustment to each workpiece can be done via adjustable stops, nozzles for central coolant feeding or via an ejector system.
Time consuming and expensive modification work on the chuck are now a thing of the past.
An integrated ball mechanism guarantees operating safety during the jaw change by assuring that the operation key can be drawn out only if the wedge bar has meshed with the base jaw.
For connection to the drawtubes of various CNC turning centres an extensive assortment of easily adjusted attachment systems are available.
Also on show at MACH will be the new ROTA NCK Plus - an inexpensive power chuck that can be used as a direct replacement of existing Kitagawa B200 series power chucks.
The chuck has proven Schunk quality and direct compatibility on existing Mazak, Mori Seiki, Okuma and Nakamura machines.
Using the tried and tested wedge-hook system, an improved lubrication system and an enlarged chuck bore, the ROTA NCK provides excellent flexibility.
The robust one-piece chuck body increases rigidity.
A new lubrication system with a special surface structure on the most important guideways efficiently avoids a loss in clamping forces.
The long precision piston guide and support guarantee good wear behaviour, a high level of continuous clamping accuracy and a long tool life.
The blank drawtube connector that can be dismantled and bored out, is integrated into the chuck and therefore facilitates the (self-) boring out of the drawtube threads.
The power chuck is available for all CNC lathes in the sizes 165, 210, 250 and 315mm with clamping forces from 57kN to 145kN.
It is suitable for maximum speeds of 6,000 rpm (on the 165 chuck) and combines jaw strokes ranging from 2.75-5.30mm per jaw.
In addition to the ROTA NCK plus, each delivery includes chuck fastening screws, T-nuts with screws, a blank drawtube connector and an assembly key.
The base jaw interface is available in two versions: either with fine serration 1.5mm x 60 deg, or with 1/16 x 90 deg serration.
This guarantees maximum flexibility and compatibility with existing top jaws.
