Toolholder programme utilises hydraulic
expansion
The Tendo precision toolholder programme from Schunk utilises hydraulic expansion technology that offers tool clamping for almost every shank diameter and machine tool spindle interface available.
The Tendo precision toolholder programme from Schunk utilises hydraulic expansion technology that offers tool clamping for almost every shank diameter and machine tool spindle interface available Applicable for all fields of metal cutting such as milling, drilling and reaming the programme also encompasses hydraulic expansion chucks for tool-sharpening

'Collet jaw' chucks offer greater versatility
A 'collet jaw' chuck is more universal than either three-jaw chucks or collets and covers a greater diameter range than conventional collets thus increasing flexibility and cost effectiveness.
Zero-point clamping system reduces work resetting
Universal zero-point clamping system that provides accurate and repeatable set-ups of workholding fixtures allows workpieces to be moved through multiple operations with minimum resetting.
This impressive product range represents the "best quality" solution for tool sharpening and tool manufacturing purposes.
The Tendo hydraulic expansion chucks have a high true-running accuracy and repeatability of 0.003mm and therefore assure even metal removal during the grinding operation.
The process reliability during sharpening and grinding of tools is guaranteed with reliable geometry in relation to contour accuracy, surface quality and dimensional accuracy.

An the alternative to conventional ER collet style toolholders offers ease of handling, more reliable tool clamping, vibration dampening and greater true running accuracy.
Quick chuck jaw change system cuts set-up times
Quick-jaw change system, to be shown at MACH 2006, meets the demands of small batch sizes with exceptional accuracy and repeatability, therefore significantly reducing set up costs.
Furthermore, the geometric design is tapered at 25deg at the chuck nose.
As a consequence of this favourable relieved contour, the grinding wheel can run out without interference.
High clamping forces ensure safe clamping of the tool - even with shallow clamping depths and high metal removal rates.
Furthermore long shank tools can also be safely and securely clamped, losing the toolshank in the clearance area in the bore of the toolholder behind the clamping area.
Moreover, the slim Tribos tool extensions can be combined with Tendo tool sharpening chucks.
The slenderness of this combination opens new perspectives of tool sharpening to the user.
Both systems, either alone or combined are dirt-proof and are even protected against the ingress of grinding dust.
The closed design of the systems ensures they are maintenance-free.
In contrast, mechanical systems comprise of several moveable parts and are susceptible to ingress of grinding dust and other particles, which in turn interfere the process reliability.
The flexibility of the Tendo Tool sharpening chucks can be considerably increased by using intermediate sleeves, which are especially adjusted to the Tendo programme.
By using intermediate sleeves, the one chuck can be used for clamping various tool shank diameters.
The tool shank can be clamped in the chuck with an Allen key via manual actuation ensuring no additional devices are required for tool clamping.
As an option to the manual actuation, pressure actuated tool sharpening chucks are also available.
Via a clamping cylinder inside the machine spindle, a piston rod advances to automatically actuate the clamping system from the rear.
Together with a gripping system from Schunk for automatic tool changes, tool sharpening chucks are also suitable for fully automated systems.
Beside the conventional interfaces for toolholders (HSK / hollow shaft tapers and SK / steep tapers) there are also other interfaces available to suit the Tendo tool sharpening chucks.
These include MK/morse tapers or adjustable flange mountings; there is a toolholder for almost every customised solution. Request a free brochure from Schunk Intec ...
