Tools held accurately, reliably at
50,000 rev/min
Tool holder can maintain concentricity better than 0.003mm and maintain stability and rigidity whilst providing vibration dampening at machine spindle speeds of up to 50,000 rev/min.
In co-operation with the high speed machine tool builder Datron from Muehltal in Germany, Schunk has designed the Tribos-RM tool holder, which can maintain concentricity better than 0.003mm and maintain stability and rigidity whilst providing vibration dampening at up to 50,000 rev/min The Tribos-RM tool holder is an extension to the already proven Tribos product range of polygonal clamping toolholders

'Collet jaw' chucks offer greater versatility
A 'collet jaw' chuck is more universal than either three-jaw chucks or collets and covers a greater diameter range than conventional collets thus increasing flexibility and cost effectiveness.
Zero-point clamping system reduces work resetting
Universal zero-point clamping system that provides accurate and repeatable set-ups of workholding fixtures allows workpieces to be moved through multiple operations with minimum resetting.
The Tribos-RM polygonal clamping toolholders are used for precise micro machining of ferrous and non ferrous metals, plastics and electrodes.
The excellent concentricity and clamping force result in exceptional stability and vibration dampening of the cutting tool.
It is these attributes that allows the Tribos-RM to provides the optimum toolholding solution for micro machining at high spindle speeds up to 50,000 rev/min.
The Tribos-RM achieves all three design criteria to deliver an exceptional product that is well suited to high speed machining.
The Tribos-RM toolholders are currently available as standard for the HSK-E 25, HSK-E 32 and HSK-E 40 machine spindle interfaces.
Comparative systems on the market have been tried and tested and have all proven either ineffective or far more expensive than the complete Tribos-RM package, inclusive of the clamping device and accessories.
The high spindle speeds and feed rates of Datron machine tools are demanding on cutting tools and toolholders.
Applying small diameter cutters at spindle speeds up to 50,000 rev/min and feed rates up to 20m/min, demands optimum clamping conditions and vibration dampening to guarantee the high performance of the cutting edge.
Failure to achieve these conditions will be detrimental to component surface quality and tool life.
As a flexible precision toolholder system, the Tribos-RM is perfectly adapted for clamping small cutter shank sizes to as small as 0.2mm diameter with numerous styles of toolholder to suit various applications.
For micro machining the Tribos is available in three versions.
The Tribos-RM is suitable for robust and precise clamping whilst the Tribos-S Mini is available for limited access applications working with minimum interference and Tribos-SVL range of extremely slim tool extensions are available for limited space and longer reach applications.
The three variants are all capable of holding cutting tool shank sizes down to 0.2mm diameter. Request a free brochure from Schunk Intec ...
