Jaws grip finish machined surfaces
safely

To clamp finish machined components without damaging the surface finish, fibreglass jaws provide a powerful hold with maximum protection of the surface.

Workpiece clamping on an already finish machined surface is a challenge for the user, said Schunk The clamping process demands careful consideration: to ensure a guaranteed secure hold on the component whilst also ensuring that the finished surface is not damaged by the chuck jaws

Schunk now provides a solution for this predicament through the use of its Quentes fibreglass jaws.

The jaws provide a powerful hold with maximum protection of the surface.

As the elements of the Quentes are replaceable, the chuck solution becomes very economical.

The chuck jaw material consists of fibreglass strengthened plastics, so whether the surface is fine machined, ground or surface treated, the clamping of the workpieces takes place without any trace of clamping.

The high coefficient of friction of the clamping material - of 0.3 to 0.4 - allows the use of lower clamping forces on the components.

Stability is guaranteed credit to the back up structure of the aluminium support jaws.

The low weight of the assembly of aluminium support jaws combined with the Quentes top jaws ensures a lightweight construction with low centrifugal forces during turning operations.

Schunk told manufacturingtalk.com that this is an ideal solution for the high speed finish machining of delicate components.

The Quentes fibreglass jaws can be delivered for power chucks and quick change chucks in 160 to 315mm chuck sizes. Request a free brochure from Schunk Intec ...
