Twin transmission boosts lift truck
performance
Three-wheel lift trucks and sideloaders are now available with two drive wheels, giving 50 per cent more torque and better balance than standard models and offer multi-direction manoeuvrability.
Three-wheel Sidetracker lift trucks and sideloaders are now available with two drive wheels, giving 50 per cent more torque and better balance than standard models while retaining their multi-direction manoeuvrability The use of a single drive wheel on a three wheel truck can make it difficult for the driver to steer accurately, and there is also a tendency for the truck to slew when braking or setting off, particularly on slopes and uneven surfaces

A multi-directional lift truck is being used successfully by racking and shelving manufacturer to carry materials safely and efficiently around its factory in East London.
These factors are exacerbated by deep load decks because of the distance between the drive wheel and the passive wheels.
By having drive wheels on both sides of the truck, stability and balance are significantly improved without reducing the compactness and cost advantages of a three wheel design.
Torque is also increased, enabling trucks to climb steeper slopes.
Like all Sidetrackers, the twin-transmission option does not have any electronics to affect reliability or the ability to use the trucks outside.
The second drive wheel also allows Sidetracker to increase the length of load decks on three wheel models to accommodate loads up to 2.5 metres deep.
The narrowest trucks can operate in 1600mm aisles.
