Siemens Automation and Drives is extending its family of Opto-BERO 3RG7 proximity switches to include a new optical sensor, which has been specifically designed for the mechanical handling market The compact K80 sensor has been tailored to the requirements of conveyor systems

It has compact plastic housing rated to IP67, a scratchproof glass window and a range of up to 50 metres in operation as a one-way light barrier.

Additional functions include an adjustable timer function, direct connection to the AS-Interface, and a facility for connection via an M12 connector or a terminal box.

The K80 is available in different versions.

The standard type is the reflection light sensor with a sensing range of up to two meters.

The object is utilized as a reflector while the reflected light volume is evaluated by the sensor.

The K80 is also available as a reflection light sensor with a sensing range of up to one meter and background blanking.

Other versions offer a reflection light barrier with a range of up to six meters, which will operate reliably with polarized light.
