He will take over as Group Chief Executive when Sweeten retires later this year.

In recent years, under the stewardship of Tony Sweeten, 600 Group has developed a focused machine tool strategy that has consolidated the Group's position as the UK's largest machine tool company.
600 Group has developed an enviable reputation for innovation and new product development and has made substantial gains in the European market through acquisition and growth.
Tony Sweeten has also confirmed that he will retain his active interest and support for UK industry, in particular his roles as Deputy President of the EEF, Member of Council of Aston University and Immediate Past President of MTA.
Ahmad, aged 50, is joining 600 Group from Metaldyne Corporation.
He has a 1st Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering and considerable knowledge of production engineering and equipment.
He has previously held senior positions at Holset, Courtaulds, BICC and TI and has extensive production engineering and international marketing experience.
Mr Ahmad lives in Rochdale and is married with two children.
