Production HMC designed for high
precision
High precision production HMC has a low friction linear guideway system offering twice the rigidity and three times the vibration damping properties of traditional ball bearings.
An acceleration of 1G, a rapid traverse rate of 60m/min over a working envelope of 1000mm in X, 800mm in Y and 850mm in Z with a positioning accuracy of +0.003mm and repeatability of +0.002mm distinguishes the latest Toyoda Mitsui Seiki FH 630S horizontal machining centre as a high precision production unit Now available from 600 Centre of Shepshed near Loughborough, the 18 tonne machine is constructed around a highly rigid three point cast iron bed utilising Toyoda's low-friction roller bearing based linear guideways that provide twice the rigidity and three times the vibration damping of traditional ball bearings

Within three months of installation a Fanuc Robodrill, Raytheon Marine Company based in Portsmouth calculated savings of GBP6,000 on components it produced due to faster set ups.
Wire EDM machine uprated to cut quicker
Fanuc has extended the capacity, specification and performance of its Robocut Alpha-1iA wire cut electro discharge machine (EDM) to provide high accuracy performance cutting at up to 300mm2/min.
Ballscrew compensation with automatic stabilisation through sensors in each axis ensure positioning accuracy and the 15,000 rev/min 18.5kW spindle incorporating four front bearings ensures stability and that vibration is minimised giving a high surface finish capability and extended working life.
Acceleration to maximum speed is completed in just 2.3 seconds and an optional 8,000 rev/min spindle giving 165Nm of torque is available.
The FH 630S is equipped with twin 630mm by 630mm pallets capable of accepting 800 kg loading with a 12 second exchange time.
Pallet indexing through 90 deg takes two seconds, 180 deg just 2.4 seconds and indexing can be initiated at 1 deg increments.
Options include a 360 position table with a fully NC controlled B-axis for contouring.
A standard tool magazine has 40 pockets with options to take up to 60 or 120 tools in a chain magazine.
However, a modular matrix unit can also be specified holding up to 326 tools delivered to the working area by high speed two-axis servomotor.
By combining magazine indexing with spindle orientation simultaneous high speed tool change can be performed within 1.3 seconds tool to tool and 2.7 seconds chip to chip.
Control is through Fanuc 30iM and through Toyoda's OP Supporter software, tool management, pallet management and maintenance functions are enhanced.
