Four types of 'economy' grinders
introduced
Four types of 'economy' surface grinding machines are dedicated towards the needs of users requiring a straight-forward surface and plunge grinding operation.
Introducing a new range of economy surface grinding machines to the UK to complement its Okamoto range of cylindrical, internal and surface and Toyoda-Mitsui Seiki production grinding machines, 600 Centre of Shepshed has launched the Perfect that is dedicated towards the needs of users requiring a straight-forward surface and plunge grinding solution Ideal for production, toolroom or workshop, the Perfect range has a table surface from 400mm x 800mm up to 700mm x 2000mm with spindle centre to table dimensions ranging between 550mm and 1000mm

Wire EDM machine uprated to cut quicker
Fanuc has extended the capacity, specification and performance of its Robocut Alpha-1iA wire cut electro discharge machine (EDM) to provide high accuracy performance cutting at up to 300mm2/min.
Available in four types, these machines can be specified as M for three axis manual operation and H which utilises hydraulic drive for the longitudinal traverse with manual intervention for cross and vertical movements.
The AH version has automatic crossfeed with hydraulic longitudinal travel and a manually operated vertical axis while the AHR provides AC servomotor control of the vertical axis with hydraulic longitudinal axis and automatic crossfeed.
Constructed on a high quality iron casting using Vee and flat ways, the M series utilises 'AA' grade steel balls for the guideway and the H version Turcite-B coated slideways.
Precision angular contact bearings are used in the cartridge design spindle with 3.7kW motor on the M while 7.4kW and 11.1kW spindle motors can be specified on the other machine versions.
Wheel speed can be either 1,750 or 1,450 rev/min for the 406mm x 50mm x 127mm wheel size.
Automatic crossfeed increments are 0.1mm to 20mm with rapid power crossfeed available at 1100mm/min.
The wheelhead rapid approach/retraction is at 800mm/min with auto down-feed of 0.001mm to 0.999mm/min.
The machines can also be specified with a computerised automatic down-feed for surface and plunge grinding with fast and slow jog and step feed for the control of roughing cycles, finish and spark-out.
There are a range of options including cross and vertical microfeed, angle and radius forming attachments, parallel dresser, rapid up and down, punch former and a range of coolant and filtration options.
