UK machine tool distributor, 600 Centre, has apponted David Wilkinson as sales director for Toyoda Mitsui Seiki, Fanuc, Okamoto and Joemars products.

Taking on the role of steering the newly enhanced product range and sales applications team of 600 Centre, David Wilkinson has been promoted to sales director Working with newly appointed managing director Ray Grocock, Wilkinson will take the lead in negotiating with some of the leading principal companies that form the international portfolio of 600 Centre and manage the team of product specialists, area managers and the applications engineering team

With the re-organisation of 600 Centre to become the UK hub for the newly branded and amalgamated product range of Colchester-Harrison multi-axis turning centres, lathes and vertical machining centres, Wilkinson will have overall responsibility for the Toyoda Mitsui Seiki cells and systems, Fanuc wire EDM and vertical machining centres, Okamoto grinding machines and Joemars vertical EDM.

Also, taking major advantage of his turning and machining centre background he will be closely involved with the new prestigious Fuji high production lathe programme that has recently been incorporated into the 600 Centre portfolio.

Said Grocock: "David was the natural choice to take on the role due to his ability to service customers beyond the sale.

600 Centre has been involved in many turnkey projects and it is the level of support and understanding you give to customers that really ensures the success of the project and repeat business." As sales manager of Colchestersales (UK) for some 18 months, Wilkinson guided the operation to substantially increase the UK order book, break into new OEM sectors and build a healthy order book in subcontract areas.
