The semiconductor veteran, Dr Tzu Yin Chiu, has joined Silterra as President and Chief Operating Officer where he will be to running research and development, and worldwide operations.

Dr Chiu started his illustrious career as a research scientist at ATandT Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey in the US and later became the Department Head of its High Speed Electronics Research Department.
He then joined Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) and was Director of its Fab 4 and Senior Director of Fab 5.
Subsequently, Dr Chiu became Senior Vice President of Shanghai Operations for Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) of China.
Most recently, he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hua Hong International and President of Hua Hong Semiconductor International, both of Shanghai, China.

"Our manufacturing operations and R and D capabilities are sound.
We have differentiated process technologies that match very well with our target applications.
Furthermore, our work on the 90nm technology is progressing exceedingly well.
We are in a good position to further demonstrate our ability and commitment to deliver high quality products to our customers".
Dr Chiu holds ten semiconductor technology patents with three additional ones still pending.
He is a senior member of the IEEE and has published thirty technical articles.
He earned his bachelor's degree in electrical and systems engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and his doctorate at the University of California at Berkeley, both in the United States.
In addition, he received his executive MBA degree from Columbia University in New York.
