Many companies are finding that it is more economical to have their goods produced overseas than in the UK.
After researching opportunities in the Far East, Weston EU, a manufacturer of seating structure components for aircraft interiors decided to set up a brand new factory in Thailand.
By setting up this new factory, Weston EU had a whole logistics operation to consider, as components had to be shipped several thousand miles from Thailand to their customer in the UK.
An extremely safe and reliable packaging solution had to be used to ship the goods on their long journey and Schoeller Arca Systems were the first choice to provide the specialist containers.
The Schoeller Arca System's range of Magnum folding pallet boxes, including their exclusive 1200mm high version, was a perfect option - this container is manufactured from expanded Polypropylene, which is 100% recyclable and offers it's contents excellent protection from impact and the elements.
It isn't airtight, therefore, a flow of air prevents any 'sweating' during transit.
Peter Lowther, Project Manager for Weston EU gave three packaging companies, including, Schoeller Arca Systems, a detailed brief.
After viewing their thorough presentation, Peter stated, "Schoeller Arca Systems custom solution was far better than what the competition had produced they totally fulfilled the brief and no question was left unanswered".
"I was very confident in the team's ability to meet the timescale and deliver great products and service." The anodised coated seating structure components that Weston EU produce needed to arrive at their destination in perfect condition, meaning that different components had to be positioned in vacuum formed trays, which were then placed on top of each other inside the Magnums to utilise the space efficiently.
Schoeller Arca Systems have a good relationship with Plastic Mouldings Northern - the perfect choice to help the team with the comprehensive packaging solution.
With a history of designing and forming trays for many industries that need protection of various goods, they produced custom trays for Weston EU components.
These offered protection by preventing movement and were manufactured using materials that do not rub the anodised coatings.
Once delivered from Thailand, the vacuum formed trays are put straight onto the production line, ready for fitting and resulting in the most minimal handling.
