After 23 years of continuous operation, Shape Technology's Bournemouth facility has received one of the early Air Bearing Shapemeters from Novelis Rogerstone.

Shape Technology has received one of the early Air Bearing Shapemeters from Novelis Rogerstone at its facility in Bournemouth, UK after 23 years of continuous operation This is the first time the roll has been returned to the factory since 1983

Installed in 1983, on the 64" cold aluminium mill, the shapemeter roll is still in excellent condition and clearly demonstrates the robustness of the air bearing shapemeter for cold mill applications.

The fact that makes this even more interesting is that we were able to reunite the roll with the engineer who installed the roll.

David Smith is now the General Sales Manager at Shape Technology .

'As you can see, the roll remains in good condition.

This really demonstrates the high quality and long life of the equipment.

This is British manufacturing at its best,' says David Smith, General Sales Manager Shape Technology 'Obviously to have equipment and engineers for this length of time offers great benefits to our customers.

From an equipment point of view the life cycle cost is less when equipment lasts for such a long duration.

Having employees with extensive industry and historical knowledge enables Shape Technology to respond and deal with any problems on site quickly and easily with minimum downtime and inconvenience,' says Malcolm Jenkins, MD.
