Higher material specs upgrade linear
ball bearings

Using high performance materials in linear ball bearings offers improved accuracies and load ratings, a smoother performance and a reduction in noise.

SKF has developed a range of linear ball bearings which gives improved accuracies and load ratings, a smoother performance and a reduction in noise The advances were achieved through a combination of design improvements, the use of high performance materials, and through new manufacturing methods

The new range, titled the LBC series, includes linear ball bearings with high load carrying capacity and stiffness, together with a broad range of accessories.

The series includes open, closed and self-aligning linear ball bearings that have lifetime lubrication when equipped with double-lipped seals.

In addition, corrosion-resistant linear ball bearings can be supplied for special applications.

The design of the new linear ball bearings ensures that they are 100 percent interchangeable with competitors' products.

Users can therefore benefit immediately from the improvements in performance to existing equipment, without having to make time consuming and costly modifications.

Linear ball bearings in the LBC series comply with the ISO Norm Series 3 and are available in corrosion-resistant models, in addition to the standard models.

Both versions are offered with or without double-lipped seals.

The LBC series has already found applications in packaging machines, automatic handling systems, paper processing, printing machines and wood processing. The LBC range consists of four different series of linear ball bearings.

The LBCR range consists of non-self-aligning linear ball bearings with a high load rating, stiffness and guidance accuracy.

Bearings of this type are available for shaft diameters of from 5 to 80mm.

The LBCT series is made up of open, non-self-aligning linear ball bearings which are used for guiding on fully supported shafts and are available in sizes from 12 to 80 mm.

The type designation LBCD describes closed, self-aligning linear ball bearings.

These bearings give an adjustment of up to +/- 30 angular minutes, to allow for alignment errors that, for example, arise when the shaft sags.

This type of ball bearing is available in sizes from 12 to 50mm.

Completing the series is the LBCF range, which contains open, self-aligning linear ball bearings.

These are especially suitable for guidance on supported shafts and can be used with heavy loads, with adjustments able to be made to compensate for alignment errors in the system.

The LBCF range is available in sizes from 12 to 50mm.

With the LBCD and LBCF series, the entire bearing adjusts to the alignment error, to provide a 'real' angular adjustment.

This guarantees the optimal sealing relationship to the shaft and avoids both one-sided wear of the seal and increased frictional forces.

This also benefits lifetime lubrication.

Ball bearings in the LBCT series are fitted with additional raceway segments, which results in greater stiffness and a higher load rating. Request a free brochure from SKF UK ...
