The latest developments in high strength steel belts and press plates for wood-based panel production, as well as laminate and melamine coatings, at the LIGNA show.

A world leader in steel belt technology, working with wood products for more than 100 years and with a well earned reputation as a reliable partner for the WBP-industry over the last six decades, Sandvik will be demonstrating the latest developments in its complete product offering of high strength steel belts and press plates for wood-based panel production, as well as laminate and melamine coatings Sandvik, exhibiting with its subsidiary Sandvik Hindrichs-Auffermann, offers a complete package to the wood-based panel industry with the capability to supply ground belts up to 4.6m wide, the largest in the world, and unground belts to a widths over 8m

Recent investment at its production facilities means it can accommodate production of steel belts up to 180m and a maximum thickness of 3.6mm.

The company has the capability to meet the needs of any press currently in operation anywhere in the world.

"By utilizing our advanced R and D programme we are able to fully support our customers with innovative technological developments to help them gain market share and stay ahead of their competitors," said Johan Sjogren, global manager for the press belt segment.

"LIGNA is the ideal opportunity for us to demonstrate our worldwide presence, delivery capability and global service network." Also demonstrated at LIGNA is the Sandvik range of QuickTools, for fast and efficient field-service actions, which now include the new QuickCutter.

The latest equipment for installation welding will also be a focus.

The new welding system allows a Sandvik engineer to safely weld and inspect a belt from a remote location, aided by a camera and LCD screen.

"We have been using this technology in our workshops for some time," explained Staffan Karlsson of Sandvik Process Systems.

"Providing safe and secure working conditions, it allows the engineer to accurately control the welding torch remotely via a joystick." Hindrichs - Auffermann (HA), one of the leading specialist producers of smooth and textured press plates and endless press belts will be launching its innovative, new Computer Aided Texture Design - CATD software, developed working alongside the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne.

The program simulates textures on screen and is able to subsequently transpose them to the production tool with absolute precision.

The company is renowned for anticipating market trends and this software can save development time, while increasing production security.

HA's new 2007-2008 sample collection, created in cooperation with five leading decor paper manufacturers, displays a perfect balance between textures that people want to touch and beautiful designs with stunning visual appeal.

Information on the full range of Sandvik steel belts, textured endless press belts, press plates and associated tooling for wood-based panel production will be available on the stand throughout the exhibition.
