Despite the installation of extractor fans, paint shop temperatures rose to 38degC and affected the surrounding factory area, until a novel solution reduced such temperatures by 6degC.

The Breezair Evaporative Air Conditioning system from Seeley International (Europe) is providing Stannah with a cool solution to a hot problem Stannah has installed the state-of-the-art Breezair system as an economic and effective means of reducing the heat generated within its paint shop at the company's factory in Andover, Hampshire

An integral part of Stannah's stairlift manufacturing process, the paint shop is used in excess of 10 hours per day, painting finished metal components with a powder coating prior to assembly.

Piece parts are carried by an overhead monorail conveyor to one of three manual spray booths and are then conveyed to a gas fired radiant heat oven where the components are baked at temperatures of 200degC.

Despite the installation of extractor fans, the paint shop generated temperatures of around 38degC to the surrounding factory area, which affected production and caused discomfort to employees.

Looking for a way of reducing the temperature, Stannah investigated a number of solutions including standard air blowers, extraction, etc, but eventually decided on the Breezair option supplied through distributors Heaters Wholesale.

Since installation was carried out in April this year, the company has seen temperatures drop by a substantial 6degC, which has helped to increase production by improving the working environment.

"The Breezair system has proved very successful and extremely cost effective", says Mike Southworth, Stannah Stairlifts.

Regarded as the most advanced evaporate cooling technology in the world, the environmentally friendly Breezair allows doors and windows to be kept open while providing a constant flow of naturally cooled air.

The system is economic to install, cost effective to run and consumes less energy than conventional air-conditioning systems.

Far more versatile than standard cooling methods, Breezair is capable of providing sufficient cool air to overflow and prevent hot air entering a building.

As fresh air is continually drawn from outside, then filtered and washed, the potential for "sick building" syndrome, caused by constantly circulating air, is avoided.

The Breezair is suitable for both commercial and industrial applications in a spectrum of industries that include agriculture, horticulture, manufacturing, catering and hotels, and public and residential buildings.

Manufactured to the highest standards, the Breezair is backed by Seeley International's 60 years of experience in climate control and the company's commitment to excellence in customer service.

Founded in the mid-1860's, and still a family owned company, Stannah is the largest independent lift manufacturer in the UK and the largest stairlift manufacturer in the world.

Today the company has a turnover of around GBP 100 million, and employs a workforce of over 1000 at its headquarters, manufacturing bases in Andover and Blaydon and subsidiaries in the USA and Europe.
