Shell has made a 12hr response commitment to its steel customers worldwide through the launch of its steel sector website It will also help centralise over 50,000 steel related enquiries per annum

The website, which went live in November 2002, includes information on Shell, its experience within the steel industry, products and services specific to the sector and contact details for Shell offices around the world.

It also includes case studies highlighting where its products and services have made a significant impact in improving plant performance and reliability, and in reducing operational costs.

In today's 24/7 steel industry, customers need to be able to contact key suppliers instantly, and by providing this transactional site, Shell is meeting this demand and giving its customers peace of mind.

If they need help, it's just a click away.

Comments Mike Portlock, industrial markets manager at Shell: "We realise that many of our customers are multi-national and have several sites around the world.

In order to maximise communication between Shell and its steel clients, this website has been designed to put customers in immediate contact with somebody who can help, regardless of where they are based.

"Lubricants are the lifeblood of applications and any downtime can have a costly impact on a businesses' bottom line.

By having this website in place, it offers our customers another channel to contact us." For customers in Australia, China, Canada, Japan, UK and USA, they will be able to order Shell products on-line.

Not only will this deliver the associated cost savings but it will significantly speed up the ordering process, resulting in products delivered in a shorter timescale.

Customers will also get to liaise with one contact throughout the process.

Concludes Mike Portlock: "We are currently looking at other ways in which technology can bring additional benefits to our customers." With operations in more than 135 countries, Shell is the world leader when it comes to supplying products and services to the steel industry.

From lubricants, fuels and LPG to advanced technical services, Shell is now a valued business partner to some of the largest and most successful steel producers in the world. Request a free brochure from Shell Lubricants ...
