High quality air compressor oils added

The Corena range of high quality air compressor oils is being revitalised by Shell with the introduction of two new products.

Shell lubricants is revitalising its Corena range of high quality air compressor oils with the introduction of two new products A new generation of the successful Corena S and AS will be available alongside the existing Corena P and AP lubricants

This means operators worldwide can choose from a full range of high quality compressor oils to maximise performance in their rotary (screw or vane) and reciprocating (piston) compressors.

Fred Ondarza, Global Product Marketing Manager for Shell Lubricants, said: "As production demands increase and operators drive compressors ever harder, the risk of an unexpected breakdown obviously rises.

Using high performance and specifically designed compressor oils such as Corena S and AS allows compressors to operate with enhanced reliability in today's demanding conditions." The new Corena S and AS oils have been designed to have qualities that address the key problems that can affect compressor performance - so the lubricants boast: Better thermal stability - to maintain compressor efficiency, Improved water shedding properties - to maintain performance when oil is contaminated with water, Outstanding oxidation stability - for improved service life, Advanced anti-wear performance - for improved component life, And better air release and anti-foam properties - for high air release and low foaming of oil.

The lubricants also maintain the traditional Corena traits of good seal compatibility to increase seal life and therefore reduce leakage; low temperature performance to allow easy start-up of compressors at low temperatures; yellow metal passivation qualities to protect against corrosion and bring longer component life and hydrolytic stability to prolong oil life.

Industrial plants and mobile applications worldwide use Shell Corena oils in a wide range of compressor makes and models.

The Corena family of products has proven field experience in a broad range of leading screw, vane and reciprocating air compressors worldwide.

The products are designed to deliver outstanding performance and value in a range of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) equipment from Atlas Copco, Bauer, CompAir, Dresser Rand, Hanshin, Hitachi, Ingersoll Rand, Kaeser and Quincy.

Fred concludes: "Lubrication costs are just three to five per cent of the costs of running a compressor for a whole year - so for the extra security of reliable and long-term performance an operator needs to invest in a top performing compressor oil.

Any operators considering the purchase of a compressor oil must select a top-performing lubricant such as one of the Corena range that goes the extra mile - a marathon runner as opposed to a sprinter."
