Safety light curtains can be mounted closer

A range of safety light curtains with an EN 954-1 Category 4 control rating have a multibeam option for use on high risk packaging machine applications.

Smartscan have recently introduced the 8000 Plus Series, a range of safety light curtains with an EN 954-1 Category 4 control rating, further enhancing the Smartscan end-of-line packaging guarding solution.

The 8000 Plus Series multibeam option allows closer mounting to the danger point and use on high risk packaging machine applications.

These may include applications for guarding the in feed and out feed conveyor access to dangerous machines like pallet stretch wrappers, pallet shrink wrappers, de-stackers, de-palletisers and robotic handling systems.

As the market for end-of-line packaging machinery has evolved end-users are fitting larger machinery into smaller production areas to keep costs down creating applications where the separation distance between the hazard and the protective device is greatly reduced.

The 8000 Plus retains all the excellent control and muting functionality of the original 8000 Series, including individual mute modules for product exit, or entry/exit which bolt directly onto the main light curtain and link to it with a cable and connectors, selectable cross or parallel beam muting patterns for standard or variable pallet loads, dual channel relay outputs, two part safety system, integrated monitored mute beacon and IP66 for harsh environments.

This combination of self contained units and configurable muting patterns offers the customer a superior choice.

Smartscan have been successfully supplying its specialist safety light curtain guarding solutions for end-of-line packaging machinery applications for over 10 years, including full Installation and Maintenance Services.

A free booklet providing packaging machine safety methodology is available from Smartscan.
