European racking and shelving sales rise
Racking and shelving specialist Stow International it is experiencing record order intake across its UK and European operation and that its sales in 2006 are well ahead of budget.
Stow International, parent company of racking and shelving specialist Stow UK has announced that it is experiencing record order intake across its UK and European operation and that its sales in 2006 are well ahead of budget.
Part of Stow International's success has been its ability to manufacture technically superior products.
This ability has been further enhanced with the opening of a second extension to the Dottenijs, Belgium plant.
Officially opened at the end of June 2006 the new 18,000m2 extension brings the total surface production at the site to 34,000m2.
With the trend for production to be moved to Eastern Europe, Stow's decision to invest EUR 15 million euros (GBP 10.5 million) in Belgium was a carefully considered one.
However, with the high degree of automation that the new plant offers the difference between labour costs will be compensated through higher productivity and some scale savings.
Plus, labour costs in Eastern Europe are rising faster than in the West reducing the gap year on year.
The central positioning in Europe of Belgium was also a major consideration in a business synonymous with the logistics industry.
Gaining major benefit from its parent company's manufacturing investment is Stow UK.
The company has recently enjoyed great success in the UK winning contracts with Honda, Britvic, TNT Logistics (on behalf of ILVA) as well as AAH Pharmaceuticals and Lex Auto Logistics.
Tony Lock, managing director of Stow UK commented by saying: "Stow UK has had a highly successful first half of 2006, recording sales that are well ahead of target and significantly increasing its tonnage of steel sold compared to the same period last year.
We try to combine excellent project management, competitive pricing and excellent customer service - and our results bear out that our customers think we are achieving these goals.".
