Canadian manufacturing show grows

'Innovations 2007' shows the latest manufacturing technologies availableat this year's Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show that will host over 400 suppliers and subcontractors.

The Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS) is Canada's largest forum for domestic and international manufacturers and distributors They will show manufacturing machinery, plant-floor automation technology and support products

CMTS takes place on October 15-18, 2007, at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto, Canada.

The show will host over 400 exhibitors in 180,000ft2 of exhibition floor space.

The organisers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, expect more than 10,000 manufacturing professionals to attend CMTS.

The bi-annual event covers the following.

* Machine tools.

* Factory automation.

* Measurement technology and quality assurance.

* Tooling and supplies.

* Metal forming.

New features this year include the following events.

* Innovations 2007 - is a 'showcase' of the latest technologies available.

* 'Manufacturing Insights' - is a comprehensive education programme that includes seminars and plant tours.

There will be 'interactive town halls' consisting of a panel of industry experts who will discuss the most pressing issues facing Canadian manufacturers today.

The topics include global competition, the rising Canadian dollar, skills shortage, and workforce development.
